How To Create Wholesale-Exclusive WooCommerce Product Variations

Setting up WooCommerce product variations is one surefire way to give your customers more options, create a tailored shopping experience, and enhance their overall satisfaction. However, if you serve B2B customers, you may want to go a step further by creating wholesale-exclusive product variations.

These are specialized product variations tailored to the needs and preferences of your B2B clients. In this article, we’ll walk you through the benefits of creating wholesale-exclusive WooCommerce product variations and teach you how to implement this strategy for your store.

Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Why Create Exclusive WooCommerce Product Variations For Wholesale Clients?

If you serve both retail and wholesale clients, you’re well aware of their diverse purchase behavior and preferences.

Retail customers often prioritize individualized selections, seeking offerings that resonate with their personal tastes and preferences. Wholesale clients, on the other hand, operate on a different scale, often focusing on efficiency, consistency, and value in their purchases. After all, they’re not just buying products; they’re investing in items to fulfill their inventory needs and meet the demands of their customer base.

This is why implementing wholesale exclusive product variations can help you serve your B2B customers better! Below, let’s explore some key benefits of this strategy:

1. Enhanced customization

Customers appreciate a personalized and tailored shopping experience, and B2B customers are no exception. In fact, according to industry insights, 77% of B2B sales and marketing professionals agree that personalization can build better customer relationships. One way to enhance personalization for your B2B clients is by creating tailored product variations to meet their needs.

For instance, if you operate a clothing store, you might want to consider providing your wholesale clients the option to purchase apparel bundle variations, where they can select different sizes, colors, or styles of their chosen product. This option and flexibility empower them to curate assortments that align with the needs of their customers, enhancing their purchase experience with your business.

2. Streamlined ordering

Time is of the essence in the B2B world. Your wholesale clients typically place large orders regularly, which requires a seamless and efficient ordering process. Exclusive WooCommerce product variations simplify the purchasing process for your B2B clients by immediately providing them with curated offerings that align with their needs.

Beyond saving time, this also enhances order accuracy and reduces the likelihood of errors in order fulfillment. With exclusive product variations, your valued wholesale clients can quickly identify the products they need without having to sift through an extensive product catalog.

3. Increased sales opportunities

Offering exclusive WooCommerce product variations to your wholesale customers also opens up new avenues for sales and revenue generation. These specialized variations enable you to address more niche demands from your clients or cater to specific market niches in your customer base.

In addition to catering to niche demands, this strategy also presents an opportunity for upselling and cross-selling. For example, you can consider offering upgraded variations alongside your regular offerings to encourage wholesale customers to explore additional options. This has the potential to increase your average order value and drive more sales.

Beyond increasing customer satisfaction and boosting your revenue, this strategy also sets you apart from the competition and positions your business as a preferred supplier in the eyes of B2B buyers. By offering tailored solutions, you differentiate your business and create a competitive edge.

Step-by-Step Guide: Creating Wholesale-Exclusive WooCommerce Product Variations

Now that we understand why creating wholesale-exclusive WooCommerce product variations is a game-changer, let’s dive into how you can implement this strategy!

By default, WooCommerce can’t restrict product variations to specific customer roles. However, you can easily accomplish this using our plugin, Wholesale Prices Premium!

Wholesale Prices Premium is a powerful plugin that allows you to manage wholesale pricing and tweak product visibility for your B2B customers. With this tool, you can easily:

  • Set and manage wholesale prices for your products
  • Create unlimited wholesale user roles for your B2B segments
  • Create wholesale exclusive offerings, products, and product variations

In this tutorial, we’ll assume you already have your WooCommerce store set up and have installed and activated Wholesale Prices Premium.

So, let’s get right into it!

Step 1: Create your variable product

The first thing you need to do is to create your first variable product in WooCommerce. This type of product enables you to create additional variations for the same item, such as size or color. In this example, we’ll create quantity options for wholesale customers.

In your WooCommerce dashboard, navigate to “Products” and click on “Add New.”

Step 2: Create product variations

To create WooCommerce product variations, you’ll need to add “Attributes” first. Attributes are characteristics that distinguish one product variation from another. For our wholesale Cat Shirt example, we’ll use attributes to represent different quantity options, such as “10 shirts,” “20 shirts,” and “50 shirts.”

To create attributes, head to the “Attributes” section in your product settings.

Firstly, enter the name of your Attribute. In our example, we’ll use “Quantity”. While configuring this, don’t forget to tick “Used for variations”. Then, proceed to add values for your attribute, representing the different quantity options available to wholesale customers. For this example, let’s add “10 shirts”, “20 shirts” and “50 shirts” as attributes.

Step 3: Set wholesale prices and make your variations wholesale-exclusive

Now that you’ve successfully created your wholesale product variations, it’s time to set wholesale prices and make these WooCommerce product variations exclusive for your B2B customers!

This is where Wholesale Prices Premium shines– our powerful plugin gives you immense flexibility to tweak wholesale prices and product visibility for your wholesale customers.

Firstly, you’ll need to set a regular price for your product variation. This is the price displayed to regular customers and is required before you can set wholesale prices. To do so, click on “Edit” beside the product variation.
