Fashion retailer Rue21 is bringing a new CIO on to its revamped leadership team. Scott Saeger, who will take on the role starting Sept. 11, 2023, is joining the business after more than five years at GNC, where he led several transformational projects, including the implementation of digital sales and consulting tools for associates.
Saeger’s extensive career includes leadership roles at 1-800-Flowers, Hewlett-Packard, ExxonMobil, and Laura Mercier. Rue21 will tap into learnings from his experiences at these organizations, especially his technology strategy expertise, to further enhance the brand’s customer journey and “optimize its platforms to support growth and enhanced interactions with rue21’s diverse community,” according to a company statement. He will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of Rue21 business applications and operations, integration of ecommerce and back-office platforms, B2B and B2C initiatives and maintenance of retail.
Rue21 also has made several executive appointments to strengthen its leadership team and stay at the forefront of change within the affordable fashion industry. Other strategic hires include:
· Matt Crummy, Chief Strategy Officer
· Ann-Marie Clendenin, SVP and Head of Stores
· Karlyn Mattson, Chief Customer Officer
“Rue21’s mission to optimize the buying experience as a relevant, authentic, and affordable fashion destination resonates with my passion and expertise for enhancing the overall customer experience,” Saeger said in a press statement. “I’m looking forward to collaborating closely with the team to help carry out rue21’s mission of offering accessible fashion for all.”
