Vitamin Shoppe Launches New Telehealth Service, Zeroes in on Weight Loss Medications

The Vitamin Shoppe has introduced Whole Health Rx by The Vitamin Shoppe, a telehealth service that connects patients with licensed healthcare providers in real time and gives them access to a robust library of educational weight loss and wellness content. The service is focused on GLP-1 agonist medications such as Ozempic, Rybelsus and compounded versions of semaglutide and tirzepatide that have become the latest thing in weight loss. Additionally, the retailer has created dedicated sections in-store and online showcasing products designed to address weight loss side effects.

Customers of Whole Health Rx, powered by WellSync, first complete an online questionnaire regarding their medical history and goals, as well as a live video interview for further assessment, if deemed necessary. If customers are approved for a prescription, they can fulfill orders through Whole Health Rx’s pharmacy partners and have them delivered by mail. Medication subscriptions are priced at $269 per month, with an introductory price of $219.

“Whole Health Rx by The Vitamin Shoppe is a meaningful evolution in our company’s mission to consistently and comprehensively support the health needs of our customers,” said Lee Wright, CEO of The Vitamin Shoppe in a statement. “As a pioneer in the wellness space since 1977, The Vitamin Shoppe is uniquely positioned to offer a truly holistic approach to weight loss that unites proven pharmaceutical interventions with our unmatched expertise in nutrition support and whole-body health.”

While these medications can help patients lower their food intake, this can lead to a reduction in crucial vitamins and minerals, and the weight loss itself can reduce muscle mass, so Whole Health Rx provides access to online education and nutrition support. Additionally, supplement products related to weight loss are available in-store and online at The Vitamin Shoppe and Super Supplements.

Vitamin Shoppe competitor GNC debuted a new store section last month devoted to GLP-1 medications and associated supplements.
