Olfactory NYC has ventured inside the Beltway for its latest store, which will open in April. The brand, founded in 2017, has three stores in New York City and one in Boston.

The Olfactory NYC store experience is designed to eliminate the guesswork behind choosing — or even creating — a signature scent. When visiting a studio, customers can smell and select from nine core gender-neutral fragrances that they can then further customize to their wants and preferences. “Scentologists” guide customers through the process, layering a variety of different fragrances based on the initial core scent selected. The final custom scent is then freshly bottled, using a fragrance bottle color and label name of the customer’s choosing.

In addition to this immersive, highly curated experience, customers also can browse Olfactory NYC’s selection of travel sprays, body wash, lotion, rinse-free hand wash and soy-blend candles.

“Olfactory NYC is a new concept in fine fragrances,” said JJ Vittoria, Founder of Olfactory NYC in a statement. “By eliminating costly bottling, packaging and licensing fees, we make the art of master perfumers more accessible. Our scents are designed to be fun, complex and engaging, allowing our customers to explore a new side of fine fragrance. Customers can also tinker with their scent, by adding specially designed accords, to create a scent that is personal and unique.”

Beyond its growing store footprint, Olfactory has a robust at-home experience. Customers receive an “Explorer Box” that includes the nine core scents as well as a “Tinkerer Box” with the accords to add to the core scents. After customers select their favorite scents, they receive a full-size version of their creation.
