Banana Republic Marks Move into Lifestyle with New San Francisco Flagship

Banana Republic's new flagship in San Franscisco.

Banana Republic has opened its new flagship store on Geary Street in San Francisco’s historic Union Square shopping district, and its new home goods line BR Home is getting the star treatment.

The company described the two-floor, 3,500-square-foot flagship as “a natural next step” in its transformation into a “leading destination for high-quality apparel, accessories and home goods.”

“As we embark on the next chapter in the BR story as a premium lifestyle brand, we remain driven by a desire for exploration and connection,” said Sandra Stangl, President and CEO of Banana Republic in a statement. “Our Banana Republic Geary Street store is our brand’s pinnacle flagship, showcasing our continued transformation in our historic hometown. We’re excited to invite our customers to come home and experience the world of Banana Republic.”

After releasing a number of collections under the BR Home brand, Banana Republic formally launched its furniture and home décor business early last month. The Geary Street store features a selection of ready-to-wear apparel and accessories alongside an assortment from BR Home, including seating, dining furniture and a lighting installation designed to complement the apparel collections.

“As seen recently with the opening of our BR Home NYC and LA pop-ups, we’re continuing to expand our store footprints, discovering what works, thinking about interesting and innovative ways to reach our customers and imagining what we may do next,” said Stangl. “Our new flagship embodies exceptional quality, timeless design and versatile styling that supports our consumer’s journey for a life well lived, by offering them curated products that are an integral part of their daily lives, representing a new way to outfit themselves for the world.”
